Genesis has been awarded a supply chain contract to support the Viking CCS project, one of the UK's largest proposed carbon capture and storage (CCS) developments.
Under the contract, Genesis will provide independent engineering expertise to review and optimise the project design, helping to reduce CAPEX, improve cost certainty and support efficient delivery during the construction phase.
What is Viking CCS?
Located in the Humber region, the UK's most industrialised and highest CO₂-emitting region, and extending offshore into the southern North Sea, Viking CCS is designed to provide high-quality, high-volume CO₂ transportation and storage. The project aims to support large-scale decarbonisation by enabling captured carbon emissions from industry to be transported and permanently stored offshore.
As a market-leading consulting company providing high-value advisory services to the energy industry, Genesis works in partnership with clients to deliver innovative, robust and sustainable solutions. Through this contract with Harbour Energy, Genesis will apply its experience across complex energy infrastructure to provide independent engineering review and design optimisation services in support of the project's objectives.
This milestone marks another important step in progressing Viking CCS, strengthening the project's technical assurance and helping to deliver a leading carbon transport and storage system for the Humber region.
The award of the Viking CCS FEED Optimisation contract is a significant milestone for Genesis and a testament to the strength of our CCUS capabilities. We are proud to continue supporting Harbour Energy on one of the UK’s most important carbon capture and storage developments and look forward to helping optimise the project to support the successful delivery of efficient and commercially viable low-carbon infrastructure at scale.
The work scope will be delivered by approximately 15 UK-based Genesis specialists over the duration of the contract.
The award reflects Genesis' proven capability to support large-scale energy transition projects and its commitment to delivering high-quality engineering and advisory services across the energy sector.
